General Infornation: If you're looking for a structured vacation so that you can't take a breath between sports activities and sight-seeing, Sinemorets is not for you. If you're looking for a manicured environment with mowed lawns and trimmed bushes, Sinemorets is not for you. If you're looking for generic hotel accommodations and impersonal service, again, Sinemorets is not for you.
But if you're looking for something different, try Sinemorets.
Its natural beauty bewitches you, while its laid-back rhythm envelops you, so you feel good and at peace with yourself. Your senses are always engaged with the colors and scents of the seaside, the mountain, the river, the rural life.
Its beaches are in cozy, crescent-shaped bays, outlined by jagged cliffs, hugged by fresh, dark- green woods. The sand is white and exquisitely fine, the sea hospitable with smooth and gradually descending bottom, the water pleasantly warm and clear. Right at the edge of these wide expanses of superb beach there is deep, cool shade - the mountain with its dense vibrant woods. It is a low, gently rolling mountain with a breathing cover of oaks and shrubs, generously hosting rivers and mineral springs and an amazing variety of birds and animals.
Location and History: The village of Sinemorets lies on a peninsula, south of the mouth of the Veleka River. It is situated 20 km to the south of Tzarevo and 6 km of Ahtopol. The first record of a settlement place dates back to 1498. Then it was bigger and according to the legends, pirates used to attack it.
During an underwater expedition, ceramics dating from 6th - 5th century BC were discovered not far from the coast. Sinemorets is a place, tucked away in the virgin nature. The village is a combination of clean beaches, old oak forests, and a river, rich in fish.
The sand is coarse and aureate in color and the water is crystal clear. The most refined beach is called Butamyata. In Sinemorets is not crowded, the hotels are small and well - equipped. The biggest hotel, called "Bella Vista Beach Club", was built in 2004. In the village, there are no night clubs and bars; however, there are several restaurants, offering different types of cuisine. The nature, Veleka River, rocks and beaches of Sinemorets make it very attractive for tourists.
Places of Interest: Ropotamo Reserve. 12 km south of Sozopol is situated the Ropotamo reserve. It covers a territory of 1000 hectares on the two banks of the Ropotamo River. It is not along river, the splendid dense forest and the water-lilies make it a magnificent spot. The dense forest impresses with its overgrowth. Ropotamo is formed by two rivulets - Rosenska and Tserovska, rising from the Strandzha Mountain, and having total length of 50 km. In its upper stream the river is fresh water but some km downstream becomes salted. Ropotamo’s banks are really picturesque –the steep sides are wreathed with overgrowth and from beneath it appear lonely rocks. The most whimsical rock is called "The lion’s head". Tall elms, oaks, sycamores and other trees incline branches over the water. Virgin’s bower and ivy creep on them, bearing a resemblance to an equatorial forest.
In its downstream the river overflows and creates meadows or inaccessible reedy and water – lily swamps. The more it gets nearer to the sea, the more beaches become all green. The most beautiful part of the river-the firth, surrounded by forests, green hills and sand dunes, comes up. The river is rich in fish species -chub, goby, barbell, carp, etc. In the park live also deers, does, rare birds, etc.
The Ropotamo reserve includes several small reserves – "Water lilies", "The Snake Island", "Arkutino" and "Sea warm wood". In the "The snake island" reserve there are several sorts of cactus. A variety of snake and bird species live in it. "Arkutino" is a swamp-lagoon with a lot of reed, rush and water- lily.
The" Sea warm wood" reserve is famous for its warm wood deposit, used in the pharmaceutics. The "Water –lilies" reserve covers a territory of 14 hectares and includes a part of the previous river bed. The way to the swamp called "Veliov vir" passes through a shady tunnel of trees and plants. The yellow and white blossoms of lilies on large green leaves are a fine view. Visiting the reserve of Ropotamo, tourists enjoy the pure and untouched nature.
