Real estate Scotland Scotland: Dundas raids Scots rival for real estate boost
Scots giant Dundas & Wilson has bagged a new partner for its real estate Scotland practice north of the border, the firm announced yesterday.
Paul Carter joins the ‘big four’ Scots firm as a partner in the Glasgow office from regional rival Tods Murray, where he was also a partner.
Carter has been handed a brief to build up Dundas’ existing portfolio of institutional investor property clients – part of an umbrella real estate practice that managing partner Donald Shaw dubbed a “core industry” for the 78-partner firm.
The hire marks a rare lateral appointment in Scotland by Dundas, which in recent months has focused its investment on its City operation.
The top 50 UK firm earlier this month hired Herbert Smith property litigation chief Martin Thomas as a partner while December saw the capture of Lawrence Graham restructuring partner John Verrill.
Commenting on his move, Carter said: “[Dundas’] real estate team has a fantastic reputation in Scotland and that is rapidly being replicated throughout the UK as the team develops the opportunities [that] are out there in the market.”
