Ravda

Location: The small village of Ravda is situated between the town of Nessebar and the village of Aheloy. Ravda is known as a preferred place of young people and students for the budget accommodation it offers. The nearest regional center – Bourgas – is only 28 km. away to the southwest and the main highway between the biggest cities in the Bulgarian Black Sea cost – Varna and Burgas – is only 1 km. away to the north.
History: Ravda is a village that is comparatively recently founded. Bulgarian refugees from White Sea Thrace and Macedonia arrived here in the second and the third decade of the 20th century and settled by the sea – the most uninhabited part of Bulgaria at that time.
The Bulgarian tsar Boris III gave agricultural land to the refugees and their heirs still live on the site. The first means of livelihood for these naturalized Bulgarians was agriculture and fishing. The village has been recognized as a perfect place for vacation and sunbathing since 40 years.
Tourism: Ravda is a sea resort with private hotels and apartments and has a number of wide-spread, beautiful and clean bays that reach the neighboring resort town – Nessebar. The village offers various sports entertainments and beaches with fine sands, life guards, beach umbrellas and lounges. In the summer time there are sports schools on yachting, water skiing, wind-surfing, boat-rowing and swimming.
Ravda is famous as a preferred site for children’s, youth and student’s vacations. The ecologically clean beach and the neat village with its fresh air are important conditions for quiet family rest. In the vacation village of Ravda there’s a plenty of choice of family hotels, private lodgings and pensions, there are also a few youth complexes of bungalows. The village has a number of restaurants, taverns, pubs and beer-bars, it also offers various kinds of international cuisine and fish specialties. There are also a library, post office and a medical center in the center of the village.
A private bay with a lovely view, crystal clear sea with splendid air, nearby the city life but still a quiet site, situated next to the Sunny Beach resort – this is the fast developing sea resort Ravda.
Places of Interest: The picturesque town of Nessebar is just a few minutes away from Ravda by car (3 km.). It is one of the oldest towns on the Black Sea coast at all – it combines the old and modern architectural ensembles which makes the town one of the most authentic and queer sites in Bulgaria. The old town is a peninsula jutting out far into the sea and the link between the old and the new parts of the town is a narrow strip of land with a windmill in the middle. Nessebar is also well-known as a sea resort with traditions which attracts thousands of tourists all year long. The town has ancient Hellenic origin and it has preserved many traces form its past – churches, monuments and even anchors and towers. Next to Nessebar is Sunny Beach (Slanchev Bryag, 5 km.) - one of the most luxurious Bulgarian resorts, offering all the range of tourist facilities. Once accommodated in Ravda, one can also visit Sunny Beach, Elenite holiday city and the beautiful Emine Cape - the latter considered to be one of the two most impressive capes along the coast, together with Kaliakra.
The resort is constantly growing up and it has the tendency to rise as the biggest Bulgarian Black Sea resort that can offer anything a tourist would prefer in the realm of entertainment. The city of Bourgas is the second largest city on the Black sea cost and is a regional administrative center which is located at 28 km. away from Ravda. It’s a fast developing industrial center with many cultural institutes and places of interest. The city has an airport, a port, a railway station and several bus stations. It is linked with almost all parts of the world and makes the access to Ravda nice and easy as well as very reliable. The visitors of Ravda should not miss to visit also Bourgas – the fourth at large city in Bulgaria.
