Development and management of free zone & business park in The Gambia
The Government of The Gambia have commissioned the first phase development of a 160 ha (hectare) Industrial & Business Park at Banjul International Airport, in The Gambia.

The Gambia Investment Promotion and Free Zones Agency (GIPFZA) have been mandated by the Government to appoint a company that will be responsible for the development and management of the Park under lease concession from GIPFZA. The Developer/Manager will jointly promote the Park with the assistance of GIPFZA both nationally and internationally as a location for new industry/business development.

An attractive package of incentives has been assembled by GIPFZA for potential investors at the Business Park.

The first phase development of the Park of 20ha of which 8.8 ha is completed contains two pre built international standard factory units, each 1000 m2 in area, together with its own energy centre, workshops, independent water treatment plant, solid waste and effluent sewerage treatment plants, telecommunications network, and first class access roads.

The Gambia is fast becoming a first choice location for new investment. The political and socio-economic stability in the country is unique to the sub-region. Together with the investment incentives, the streamlined business procedures, and a Government committed to public/private sector partnerships, the international image of The Gambia as an investment location has never been more positive.

The labour force is young, active, flexible and relatively inexpensive. The Government's strategy for education embraces both academic and vocational skills development thus ensuring a future strong skills base.

The strategic location of The Gambia on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, offers convenient access to the US, EU and to the rest of Africa.

GIPFZA has already got a 'healthy' pipeline of eligible investment projects for the Park and is confident that together with a suitably experienced partner, the "J.22ND Business Park" at the Banjul International Airport will prove to be a major catalyst in the economic development of The Gambia.

The Gambia has publicly stated that the private sector will be "the engine of national development" and that private capital should play an important role in the economy.

Expressions of Interest are hereby invited from companies with experience/expertise in the development and management of Industrial Business Parks, Free Zones or similar infrastructure works preferably through partnership at the international level, and that have a capability of investment promotion in the international market place, to be considered for selection of the Developer/Manager of the Park.

Expressions of interest should include a full company profile particularly with reference to Relevant Experience, Management Structure, Marketing, Operational and Maintenance Capabilities and a sound Environmental Protection Policy.

Upon receipt and evaluation of Expressions of Interest, a short-list of qualifying companies will be issued with a comprehensive set of documentation on which a detailed proposal to secure the concession will be requested. GIPFZA may enter into negotiations with one or more of the preferred proposals to conclude the concession agreement.
