Main accent in realization of the infrastructural program of Sopot for the year 2006 is the work for substitution of some parts of the water supply network. The resources are granted by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.The renovation will liquidate all damages in the region.
Asphalting and renovation of most of the streets in Sopot are also forthcoming projects.
Except the infrastructural projects the municipality is waiting ratification and financing by the Committee for Disasters and Damages for repair of 39 projects.
The mayor also organised forestation of the region and all citizens were invited to help. Five thousand trees were afforested – acacias, pine-trees, fir-trees, oak-trees, walnut-trees, cedars and others.
The municipality is getting better in all aspects.It attracts more visitors and investors. The real estate market is well-developed. There is a great interest in buying properties in this region.
Sopot has many advantages, which makes it good destination for tourists.
The town of Sopot is situated in the central part of the Stryamska valley, on the southern sides of the Balkan Mountains, between the rivers Manastirska and Leevitsa. Sopot and the close villages produced rose oil, carpets, glass, cloaks, leathers, woolen braiding, etc. Medieval fortresses, called "Anevsko kale" and "Sopot kale", could be visited in this region, too.
Not far away from the "St. Spas" Monastery is built a lift station with seats lift which elevates to 1600 m above sea level near to the "Nezabravka" chalet.
The intermediate lift station, 1350 m elevated above sea level, is a favorite place of glider fans.
