This village dates back to the 17th century and has survived the cruel Ottoman rule. Many of the houses here have the authentic architecture typical for this region. Ninety of these houses are cultural monuments. The oldest dates back to the beginning of 19 century. The most famous of these houses are Kalaidjiiska House, Grigorova House and Bogdanova House. There are two floors with oriels, high stone chimneys, thick walls, forged doors, little windows, wooden staircases. The Ethnographic museum, which is located in one of these houses is exceptionally interesting and shows the exposition and style of living in the Rhodopean region. Other places of interest are the church Uspenie Bogorodichno, built in 1834, with amazing inside and outside architecture. The folklore Music High School is located in the village as well. Situated near the village are the rock phenomena The Head, The Maiden and the Summer Forest. Shiroka Luka village is a station for many tourist routes and a set point to view the the peaks Turlata, Big and Little Perelik.
