The project for building a second bridge across the Danube River aims at opening the transport network of Bulgaria, its integration with other European transport networks, as well as increasing the quality of transport service and competitiveness of Bulgarian economy. Vidin will become more accessible for foreigners. The stream of tourists will increase, which is very advantageous for the development of the region. Buying properties now, when they are not expensive is a very good investment. The first working meeting for the building of “Danube Bridge 2” took place in the end of June 2006. The representatives of the companies that were approved by the European committee for the construction work of the bridge Vidin-Kalafat arrived at Vidin. Their purpose was to get to know the specific conditions and circumstances that they should have in mind when they will work out the offers for the bridge. They viewed the status of the infrastructure of the Bulgarian and Romanian riversides. The dead line for presenting the price offers is 15th Sept 2006. They will be officially opened three days later in the Ministry of Transport. There are going to be two roadways and a railway.On a later stage there is a possibility to build two more roadways for cars and one more railroad. The total investment comes to 300 million euro.The bigger part of the investment is provided by the FAR and ISPA programmes. The auction for the building of the bridge is taking place at international level. Auctions for the contiguous infrastructure will be organised considering the Public Procurement Law. The whole work is planned to be finished by the end of 2008. The standard of life is going to increase as a whole, because Bulgarian producers will enlarge the market for their goods. Many businessmen have plans for building hotels, stores and offices, because of the stream of transit cars that is expected.The investment in real estate in Vidin has a great perspective.
