The seacoast of the resort town Pomorie is low, sandy, with a completely open horizon to the East, South and West, protected to the North by the Balkan Mountains. This is the town with the longest beach in Bulgaria; the Northeast beach is rich in iron sand – 11 km; while the Southeast beach with golden sands is 7 km long with an area of 18.700 square meters. The shallow and flat sea bottom along the coast with a slight fall, with no riffs or cold sea currents is safe for swimming. The climatic conditions are exceptionally favorable: continued sunshine periods (up to 2360 hours per annum); the average July temperature of the air and water 23, 6 degrees C. Because the seawater cools down slowly, the autumn is warm and long. The average temperature is 20, 5 degrees C. Snowfalls are minimal and snow stays usually for a maximum of 5 to 7 days. The influence of the sea determines the climatic conditions of this resort area. Summer heat is endured easier here compared to the inland of the country, because of the alternating directions of the sea breeze from the sea to the land and vice versa that cool the air rhythmically. The breakwater facilities decline cool currents. These climatic parameters allow the use of the resort, starting from early spring until late in the autumn, for sunshine and seawater rehabilitation. The fields of fruit and vegetable crops that surround Pomorie -34 000 000 square meters of vineyards, 2200 square meters of fruit trees and 800 square meters of orchards, provide a jubilance of fruit and vegetables for the resort area. The tourist business is the determining sector of economics for Pomorie. The aquatic territory of the Pomorie gulf is suitable for sailing regattas; the seaport is a favorite place of amateur anglers.
