Beautiful Bulgaria
Situated in South Eastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria is approximately the size of England. Nature, however, is at her most glorious on the stunningly beautiful Black Sea coast. 380km of sun-washed beaches fringe the shoreline, lapped by the shimmering, looking-glass sea. Clean and rich in healing minerals, the Black Sea waters are perfect for bathing, and many of the beaches have been awarded Blue Flags. Picturesque bays and undulating sand dunes trim the densely-wooded interior, which is peppered with pretty villages and resorts. Bulgaria’s prized Mediterranean climate - flower-filled springs; dazzling summers; long mellow autumns – is favourably disposed to coastal living. Days begin with the golden sunrise, and end with the stars on the moon-polished water.

Home to Spartacus, the gladiator hero, and Orpheus, ‘the father of song’, Bulgaria has a long and fascinating history. Recently excavated palaces, tombs, temples and treasures have taught us about the country’s Thracian past, and the complex evolution of its arts and crafts. Other ancient civilisations, including the Greeks and the Romans, have contributed to Bulgaria’s history and culture. The country has nine UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Thracian tombs; medieval churches; and the composite city of Nessebar. Unsurprisingly, Bulgaria’s customs and traditions are eclectic in spirit. The national cuisine is deliciously diverse, with Greek, Italian and Middle Eastern influences, while the wine has its origins with the God Dionysis, and is, to quote Homer, quite simply ‘divine’.

Varna
Varna, one of Europe’s oldest cities, lies in the curve of a sheltered bay. With its large expanse of sandy beach, and pleasant co-mingling of architectural styles, the city is a major tourist attraction. The iconic, copper-domed Cathedral of the Assumption is at the literal and spiritual heart of the city. Close to this is the Theatre of Drama, a Viennese-style building, which houses an opera and philharmonic halls. One might visit, moreover, the Roman Spa Baths and thermal springs, or the city’s celebrated museums and galleries. Equally fascinating is Varna’s Sea Garden, with its planetarium, dolphinarium and zoo. In addition, Varna has five universities, a sophisticated nightlife, and a range of hosted international events. A city of flowers and festivals and gold, Varna is also the economic centre of the Black Sea coast. With its state-of-the-art business projects, and multinational retail outlets, the city is experiencing unprecedented growth. An important communications and transportation centre, with singularly impressive plans for expansion, Varna is, unquestionably, a city of the future.

Golden Sands
Golden Sands, 18km to the north of Varna, is the largest resort on the Black Sea coast. Situated next to a National Park, replete with red squirrels and swallow-tail butterflies, the area is acclaimed for its natural beauty. Hillsides decked with oaks and limes, chamomile, jasmine, lilac and hops, give way to the bustling holiday complex, which tumbles down to the white-gold beach. Hot mineral springs, and a range of balneotherapy treatments, add to the health-giving character of the resort, which is famous for its luxury spa-hotels. Visitors can participate in a variety of water-sports and land activities, including yachting, cycling, horse-riding and safaris, or explore the historic Aladzha rock monastery. There are ponies and waterslides to entertain the children, and Ferris wheels, shopping arcades and bazaars. In the evenings a carnival atmosphere prevails. After dining in one of the international restaurants, visitors can enjoy the night-clubs, cabarets and casinos, or sip amber grape brandy beneath the silvering sky.

Albena
Albena lies a little to the north of Golden Sands, and is heralded for its gardens and sugar-fine beaches. Sheltered by sylvan, herb-scented mountains, the bay is exceptionally warm and shallow, and rich in healing mineral salts. The resort is, indeed, home to the coast’s biggest wellness centre, which offers exclusive hydrotherapy programs. Located within the Baltata reserve, with its maples and elms and rare water birds, Albena is a fusion of forest, holiday townscape and seashore. Quaint mini ‘trains’ wend their way round the flower-filled squares and step-terraced buildings, shaded by ribbons of tall leafy trees. A superior, family-centred, resort, Albena has excellent sporting facilities, including football, water-skiing, tennis and bowling, and a full and varied cultural program. Visitors are treated to symphonies, puppet shows, folk singing and dancing, and trips to the rainforest at the heart of the reserve. One might also visit Balchik, famous for its palace and botanical gardens, and its three contiguous championship golf courses. After sunset, Albena offers discos and bars and family entertainment, including dinner aboard the Arabella Brig, a beautiful old sail-ship in the fairy-tale forest.

Kranevo
Kranevo is a little haven, nestling between Golden Sands and Albena. Close to the site of a Roman fortress, and the fertile valley of the River Batova, the village has a sense of tradition and peace. Whitewashed buildings with red-tiled roofs and chocolate-brown timbers look paint-box bright against the Prussian-green hillsides. In Kranevo village the hotels and restaurants tend to be small and family-run. Visitors are greeted with genuine warmth, and are treated to wholesome Bulgarian cuisine. Indeed, herbs and fruits scramble among aubergines, peppers and vines in most of Kranevo’s kitchen gardens. Nearby places of interest include the dramatic Stone Shore, with its Thracian necropolis and ancient cave-dwellings; and Kaliacra Cape, with its 2 kilometre rocky peninsula, which ends with a 70-metre vertical drop. With its sweeping gold beaches, safe shallow waters and charming little campsites, one might choose to stay in Kranevo forever. While extremely close to Golden Sands and Albena, Kranevo is also a million miles away.

Bulgarian regulations (subject to change before 2013) allow foreigners to buy buildings in Bulgaria, but do not allow them to purchase land. Accordingly, to enable clients to buy property in our development, the ownership of the land will be transferred to a newly-registered Bulgarian company, which will allow owners to become shareholders in proportion to the size of the property purchased. Purchases will be formalized through two separate contracts: one for the property, and one for the shares.
